Categories are used exclusively for reporting within the admin portal and are not visible on the POS or online ordering systems.

Common Use Case

It's standard practice to create separate categories for Food and Drinks. Because food and drinks have different VAT rates in Ireland, this category separation allows for proper VAT reporting and financial analysis.
