# Stock Products vs Stock Items

The system uses a hierarchical structure to manage inventory efficiently:

## Stock Product

This is the parent item that defines the unit of measurement and tracks costs.

## Stock Items

These are defined quantities that the stock moves in and out, all related to the parent Stock Product.

## Stock Product and Stock Items Example

**Stock Product**: Chips with grams as its unit

* **Stock Item 1**: Chips Delivery 
  * Quantity: 10,000 grams
* **Stock Item 2**: Kids Chips
  * Quantity: 80 grams
* **Stock Item 3**: Regular Chips
  * Quantity: 120 grams
* **Stock Item 4**: Large Chips
  * Quantity of 160 grams
