# Creating a Department

1. In the [**Admin Portal**](https://admin.gobossit.com/), navigate to **Menu** > **Departments**.
2. Click **Add department.**
3. Configure the details:
   1. **Name** — Display name (e.g., "Soft Drinks", "Burgers")
   2. **Category** — Select from pre-configured Categories
   3. **Type**
      * **POS** — For POS and Kiosk
      * **Online** — For Web/App
   4. **PLU —** Automatically generated value (can be manually overridden)
   5. **List color (POS)** — Hex code or colour picker for POS display
   6. **List order** — Display order on POS (ascending)
   7. **Kiosk Image** — For kiosk display (if Department Type is POS) or web/app display (if Department Type is Online) 
   8. **Shown individually?** — Show/hide department whilst keeping products grouped
   9. **Active?** — Toggle availability
4. Click **Create**.
